Today was the day. The last day of school and that moment when you think, ok let's go! So off we are heading to spend Canada Day with family. We couldn't do the drive all in one shot so we made a night stop in Wawa. Wawa is known for its goose, oversized goose. This week, leading up to Canada day, they have replaced the goose as it was beginning to show its age. It turns out that the goose of Wawa has been replaced three times (this current bird being the third). This goose, which is under wraps until tomorrow as part of the 150th Canada Day celebration, is supposedly more realistic in appearance and sits on a more natural stand. We are hoping to catch a glimpse of the bird tomorrow but will settle for the full view on our way back. The one thing about Wawa that I love is the small town but big heart feel. The Wawa Motor Inn is clean, close to green space and have a great dinning room/sports bar. The cabin rooms are rustic and let you know your are in Northern Ontario. Exactly what you want after a long, rainy drive. if you are on your way through or make Wawa a destination, you should defiantly make a stop in this community.
