When the sun shines, make hay.

And how the sun shone today!
It is funny how quick we are to forget how much difference time can make in terms of perspective.  This year I have heard how late our spring has been.  I didn't say much other then blaming it on a early Easter and feeling like it should be warmer. Another bonus to social media and technology is that we can reflect on where we have come or been. Three years ago today, we had a major snow storm that actually cancelled professional development day activities for the school board I work for.  Suddenly, people were buzzing with this memory and how this year really isn't so far off given the only snow remaining is that which is piled up in parking lots or hidden under the shade of trees.

Today's run felt pretty amazing simply because of the lack of clothes (I say with my tongue firmly planted in cheek).  I find this time of year so difficult to run in when it is cold.  The sun is so hot but the air temperature doesn't match so you find yourself in a constant battle of what to wear, sometimes to the point of simply running indoors. Today I relished and enjoyed the ride, the sun kissing my skin and the feeling of "oh my this is really hot, did I drink enough water?".  I didn't mind at all.

On another note, I am finding that my love of fit of Lulu has been waning, specifically in the tights. I am finding that they are falling from my hips and overall that the fit is off.  Luckily our local Winners has brought in New Balance and Nike apparel which I am LOVING!  The fit is amazing and because they are end pieces, they have some funky stuff.  Also you really can't beat the price.

Marathon Monday

Today was the running of the 2016 Boston Marathon.  In this honour, I wore my New Balance commemorative t-shirt from 2015 all while letting everyone know that today was the day.

Today was the day that many runners in the greater Boston area woke up after an attempted rested sleep, walked over to their gear (likely laid out diligently in preparation and ritual even) and decided today was the day that their Boston would be run.

Today was the day that many friends, family and supporters gathered around the route, finish line, televisions, social media and personal devices to track and support their runner.

Boston is the peoples race.  A race that has changed and grown through the years it's been run.  It has seen heart break and joy, death even but also life from the ruins.  Boston asks us to come back, try harder and support all.  Boston is pure sport.

There are so many images, sights , sounds, emotions that I experienced as I was along for the ride of my brother's Boston, it is really hard to know what to share and what to just say "you need to go to Boston".  I have no plans to run Marathon Monday, it simply is not my game but I can tell you I will be back.  The is something about running along the Charles River while crews of rowers pass by effortlessly on a cool spring morning that is really nothing more then surreal.  There is also something in meeting the people of Boston, the cab drivers, waitresses, waiters, shop owners, barristas, college students and the citizens of Boston who congratulate everyone wearing a medal around their neck.  They each have stories to tell of why it is so important that you are there and they each say thank you for coming.

I will never forget what one ubber driver said to us;
"Thank you so much for coming to Boston.
Boston needs you, we need this."

SO... I know, I know , it has been a while and even though the best of intentions I had, somehow along the way life got the better of me.

This weekend, I attended a Google Summit called a GAFE (Google Apps For Education).  Being around such creative and energized people lit my fire once again.  Blogging has been on my mind and I have found myself reading other blogs wishing I could be writing.  Funny how the solution to my problem was simply to do which was a take away from one of the first sessions this morning.  Leslie McBeth (follow her on Twitter) said "Sometimes you just need to put your technology away and do."

So true.  Technology is an amazing tool.  It is a bridge, a voice, a window but it can be a barrier.  It can also have you live out your experiences vicariously.  I think we need to learn balance, and not only with technology but life, love and everything in between.  With that, I am back!  Although I truly ever left xoxox
